Julia Weldon

On the verge of starting their next album, Brooklyn indie-folk-pop artist Julia Weldon instead found themself waking up from a coma after a gender affirming surgery. One year later after a fortunate recovery and songs to tell the story, the self-taught, nationally recognized musician went across the pond to England to record their new material with Drew Morgan (producer of Perfume Genius). As a follow-up to their critically acclaimed album, Light Is a Ghost, Weldon describes their new work as a contemplation of polarities: heartbreak and new love, life and death, connection and loss. Weldon tours nationally and their music has been featured in The Village Voice, Buzz Feed, Bitch Magazine, Autostraddle, AfterEllen, SheWired, The Advocate, Deli Magazine, and The Washington Post.

Weldon's 2013 album Light Is a Ghost is produced by Saul MacWilliams (Ingrid Michaelson, Dan Romer) and features Adam Christgau (Sia, Tegan and Sara) on drums. The album showcases Weldon’s storytelling, voice, and unmistakable charisma.
